Ocean Entertainment Limited is an established, award-winning Atlantic Canadian production company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Johanna Eliot is the company’s Executive Producer and President.

Incorporated in 1997, the company has extensive experience in television production, primarily television series and documentaries.  In recent years, however, Ocean has produced or executive-produced dramatic films.  Ocean Entertainment is a sister to Ocean Digital, a full-service editing facility with five HD suites as well as a fully equipped post-audio suite – Tweeq Audio.

Ocean has co-produced with Cellar Door Productions of PEI, to much acclaim, two feature specials and multiple series with host Chef Michael Smith for Food Network Canada: Saturday Night, A Day in the Night of Chef Michael Smith and Mountain Magic; 3 seasons of The Inn Chef; 5 seasons of Chef At Large; 6 seasons of Chef At Home; and the newest series in this brand programming - 26 half-hour episodes of Chef Abroad for Food Network Canada. The Chef series are among the highest rated and most well received of the Canadian Food Network programs and they continue to be huge audience favourites.

In 2008 Ocean completed production of a new lifestyle series - French Food At Home (78 episodes) - with host and French cuisine expert Laura Calder for Food Network Canada, as well as a one-hour special - The Chateau Dinner: A French Food At Home Special - for Food Network Canada.

Ocean began its latest foray into the international flavour of food series with the addition of the Indian cuisine inspired Spice Goddess, with Bal Arneson. Ocean has completed 26 half for Cooking Channel US and Food Network Canada, and, in 2010, was one of the featured original food series making up the Cooking Channel’s launch slate.

The 2008/2009 season saw the addition of the first season of 13 half-hour episodes of Family Renovation,a new documentary reno series for HGTV Canada. In 2010, Family Renovation’s breakthrough success garnered it licenses with DIY US and HGTV Canada for production of the 2nd season of 10 half hour episodes, which aired Summer and Fall 2011.

In 2010 Ocean delved into another new genre. Now with the completion of 3 seasons of 20 half hour episodes of the live variety shows for APTN, The Candy Show is commencing its fourth season of 13 half hours in April 2013. Star, Candy Palmater, is a recovering lawyer and Native comedian brings her own brand of humour and insight as she interacts with guests. Guests each episode include everything from contortionists to magicians as well as a featuring a musical guest.

Over the course of 2012, Ocean has been in heavy development mode. The result is OWN commissioning the first season of 8 one-hours of the crime documentary series To Catch A Killer. To Catch a Killer is taking a new approach to the reopening and solving of cold case crimes. Shooting begins June 2013 with the anticipated broadcast airdates commencing January 2014.

Ocean has numerous other lifestyle and crime series in development as well as 2 new drama series in the offing.
